On the sixth of February 2018 in Portoroz, the railway freight forwarders of the Slovenian railways met with directors of freight train operators, SZ-Tovorni promet doo., HZ Cargo d.o.o., AD „Serbia Cargo“ Belgrade, Republic of Serbia railways a.d., Macedonian Railways Transport AD Skopje and AD Montecargo Podgorica.
The main purpose of the regional high-level meeting was to increase the cooperation between companies in order to enable better rail transport services to their business partners and users, and increase the volume of rail transport. The common goal of all participants is to increase the quality of the customers, as well as to replenish the goods flow from the drum on the railroad, which are currently being transported by trucks.
Thisis a major step towards improving the regional cooperation between national freight transport operators. Operators also stressed the importance of introducing the governments of their states to possibly review the possibility of introducing appropriate financial and other measures to achieve an equal economic position with other modes of transport.
The directors of freight transport operators have also signed a Memorandum of understanding on mutual cooperation, in which they confirmed their common goals and strengthening their mutual cooperation. Enhancing the development of rail freight traffic services, actively working to improve service delivery aspect, work and promote joint projects in order to get financial support for the implementation of the same. Promote ecologic aspect of the railways, strengthen the security aspect, include support for the extension of the basic TEN-t corridor network, in order to develop region and ensure the adequate level of investment in railway infrastructure.
